United Nations, October 17 (RHC)-- Martin Griffiths, the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator -- has reflected on what he called "a dreadful week" in which "humanity is failing."
In his latest statement on the conflict, the UN official said: “I fear the worst is yet come,” adding that in Gaza, there is “no power, no water and no fuel,” food supplies were running low, hospitals are “running out of medicine” and “morgues are overflowing”.
“The humanitarian situation in Gaza, already critical, is fast becoming untenable,” emphasized Martin Griffiths. The UN humanitarian official also warned of rising violence in the West Bank and the risk of escalation between Israel and Lebanon.
