Moscow, November 14 (RHC)-- Russian intelligence authorities say the United States is pressing the Israeli regime behind closed doors to "speed up the operations" in Gaza in order to avoid the impacts of a prolongation of the conflict on President Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election bid.

Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said in a Monday statement that U.S. government officials have been encouraging the Israeli regime to speed up its military operation in Gaza as they fear a delay may negatively affect Biden’s position in the run-up to the US presidential election in November next year.

The SVR statement, carried by state-run Sputnik news agency, said that US efforts to convince the Israeli regime to end the war in Gaza are in contrast to Washington’s open declaration of support for Israel’s more than month-long military action that has left over 11,000 Palestinians dead.

“The Israelis are being encouraged to speed up the operation in order to prevent it from being delayed, as this would negatively affect Biden's election positions,” said the statement.

Anti-Israel sentiments are on rise across the U.S. as many continue to call on Biden to stop supporting the Israeli regime in its one-sided war against Gaza.

More than 10,000 people rallied in downtown Austin, in the U.S. state of Texas, on Monday to demand an end to the Israeli aggression.

Meanwhile, Israeli foreign minister Eli Cohen said on Monday that the regime has a window of two to three weeks to finish its operations in Gaza as he warned that rising international pressure may outweigh the support provided by the US and allies for the regime's military action in recent weeks.

“Politically, we are noticing pressure building on Israel. The pressure is not very high yet, but it is increasing,” Cohen told a press briefing, adding that the diplomatic clock was ticking for Israel to end its war in Gaza.
