Rafah, December 11 (RHC)-- The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says the Israeli military has opened fire on a convoy of ambulances, accompanied by UN vehicles, in the Gaza Strip, as the occupying regime continues its brutal assault against the besieged enclave.

The PRCS made the remarks in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday, saying six of its ambulances came under attack as they were transporting critically injured patients in Gaza.   “The Palestine Red Crescent Society coordinated with the United Nations to evacuate 11 casualties in critical condition last night from Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City to the hospital in the south of the Strip,” it said, adding that one of the injured died before receiving any treatment following the Israeli attack.

The convoy, escorted by UN vehicles, set off from Khan Yunis after waiting about four hours for the first green light to move towards the military checkpoint that separates the north from south in the Gaza Strip, the Red Crescent said.

This is not the first time that the Israeli regime attacks ambulances carrying wounded patients in Gaza.  In November, Israel attacked a convoy of ambulances outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza that left 15 Palestinian civilians dead and dozens of others injured.  This is while hospitals across Gaza are no longer functioning due to the lack of fuel and the damage from the occupying regime’s aggression on the blockaded area which is now in its 65th day.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the head of World Health Organization (WHO) have condemn the recent Israeli attack on a convoy of ambulances outside al-Shifa Hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip that left 15 Palestinian civilians dead and dozens of others injured.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime’s decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

The Israeli aggression has so far killed at least 17,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and wounded 48,780 others.  The Tel Aviv regime has imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
