Washington, March 8 (RHC)-- In Washington, DC Thursday night, protests took place both inside and outside the Capitol as U.S. President Joe Biden delivered his annual State of the Union address.
Protesters blocked Biden’s route to Congress in the hour before his motorcade was supposed to set off for the Capitol from the White House. The protesters, many wearing black “Biden’s legacy is genocide” t-shirts, sat on Pennsylvania Avenue demanding a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
Demonstrators were also heard yelling outside the White House and fences were erected outside Congress before the address.
Inside, where lawmakers were gathered, two representatives stood and held signs calling for an end to U.S. policy supporting the genocidal Israeli regime.
House of Representatives member from the state of Michigan, Rashida Tlaib, stood and held a sign saying: "Stop Sending Bombs" while her fellow progressive legislator Cori Bush from Missouri also held a sign that said: “Lasting Ceasefire Now.”
