La Paz, May 16 (RHC) Bolivia's Vice Minister of Communication, Gabriela Alcón, denounced Thursday political distortions of Supreme Decree (DS) 4732 by the opposition, union leaders and a so-called “committee for the defense of private property”.
These sectors call the population to carry out protest demonstrations with the argument that this legal instrument is “harmful to constitutional rights”.
Alcón assured in a press conference that it is “a decree which has been in force for two years and (the questioning) seems political (...)”.
She reiterated that this regulation has been in force for two years and, nevertheless, no complaints or damages have been reported to date.
She explained that the DS 4732 has only one objective, which is precisely that, in the contracts between parties, there are no clauses that go against the population.
In force since June 2022, this regulation fights against abusive clauses and commercial practices in real estate pre-sale contracts, and punishes non-compliance with administrative, economic or criminal sanctions.
“I want to tell the population not to be fooled, that we are not with any intention, as the opposition has pointed out, of wanting to have control or take away private property”, he concluded.
Last May 14, the national Government abrogated Supreme Decree 5143 on the modernization of Real Rights to avoid its politicization, due to the disinformation generated around it, and to avoid the creation of a destabilization and social convulsion plan.
“As national Government we have once again heeded the request of the social organizations and we have made the decision to abrogate this Supreme Decree (5143) to avoid any distortion, any social convulsion that is being sought (...)”, warned the President, Luis Arce.
After an informative meeting with the Unity Pact in the Casa Grande del Pueblo (governmental headquarters), the head of state announced the measure in a press conference.
He affirmed that the DS 5143, approved more than a month ago, sought to guarantee the private property of Bolivians, but unfortunately it was manipulated for political purposes.
He also explained that there is a destabilization plan with the objective of unleashing protests in the coming weeks based on this and other sensitive issues for the Bolivian population.
Arce regretted that the media and social networks are misleading the country and have distorted the objective of the regulation that only sought to modernize a service and guarantee private property.
