Caracas, July 31 (RHC)-- The Government of Venezuela, through its Foreign Minister Yván Gil, made the decision to break ties with Peru, after the Peruvian authorities questioned the recent results of the presidential elections.

During a press conference held in Caracas, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil stressed that the break is based on Article 45 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.  "We are forced to make this decision due to the reckless statements of the Peruvian foreign minister, which ignore the will of the Venezuelan people and violate our Constitution," the diplomat stressed.

This measure is taken after Peru aligned itself with the coup agenda of the Venezuelan right and did not recognize the results of the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared Nicolás Maduro Moros the winner.  This alignment was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Javier González-Olaechea.

Consequently, the Venezuelan authorities have ordered the evacuation of their diplomatic corps from Peru and six other Latin American countries, arguing that these nations have acted in an "interventionist" manner and in alignment with "right-wing governments subordinate to Washington."

Peruvian diplomatic personnel are expected to leave Caracas within 72 hours, Venezuelan diplomacy announced.
