A large protest takes place at Shannon Airport in the west of Ireland, opposing its use to transport deadly weapons to Israel.
Security was tight at Shannon Airport's entrance as hundreds gathered in solidarity with the Palestinian people. 

Dublin, November 20 (RHC)-- Various rights groups have condemned the United States use of Shannon airport to refuel aircraft carrying lethal arms bound for Israel, calling it criminal. They are also urging the Irish government to close the country's airspace to such transits.

One protester, Tadhg Hickey, a comedian and human rights activist, said:  "We are here, not because we want to, not because we're a bunch of mad lefties, who have nothing better to do.  We're here to put pressure on the government to do their job and do the right thing and not end up being complicit in genocide in the international courts."   And he added that 60% to 70% of all victims of Tel Aviv's genocide have been children and women.

Behind France and Germany, Ireland is the biggest purchaser of war bonds, which is facilitating the economic efforts of Israel to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people. 

Another Irish protester said:  " I was just sick of sitting at home and looking at this happen like via social media, and then being said certain things through the press, I guess, wasn't really accurate.  So I want you to come out and just, kind of like you said, use my vocal voice."  And he added:  "It's very important for our own interests, not just for Palestine, that we don't become part of a military, international military machine."

Ahead of any upcoming national elections in the EU, activists are calling on voters to support candidates who pledge to impose strict sanctions on the Israeli regime.  And in this regard, a general election is due to take place here in Ireland in less than two weeks time on the 29th of November.
