Montevideo, November 21 (RHC)-- With the Uruguayan presidential runoff just around the corner, this Sunday, November 24th, candidates Yamandú Orsi, of the opposition Frente Amplio, and Álvaro Delgado, of the ruling National Coalition, held their last electoral campaign events.

Recent polls show a close race, with a minimal difference between candidates Orsi (Frente Amplio) and Delgado (National Coalition).  Projections range between three and four percentage points in favor of Orsi.

Orsi, in his closing speech, presented a clear dichotomy in the election process, remarking that “on Sunday we will decide between two projects. Our proposal is based on certainty: investment for economic growth, generation of employment and increase of the purchasing power of salaries and pensions”.

This Sunday we are going to change the course of this country!   Uruguay has to grow all together, or it does not grow.

Delgado, for his part, emphasized that his candidacy transcends his party, representing a continuity of the government project.

The vice-presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, Carolina Cosse, called for reflection, stating that “in three days, we will define the future of Uruguay. We need to build bridges to the future, as Artigas did, and as progressive forces have done throughout our history.”

Sunday's ballot presents a crossroads: the continuity of the ruling coalition or the change proposed by the Frente Amplio, which prioritizes social and economic security, so the result will define the political course of Uruguay in the coming years.
