Ramallah, February 4 (RHC)-- The Palestinian Authority has condemned an ongoing Israeli assault across the occupied West Bank as “ethnic cleansing.”  The regime forces have killed at least 70 Palestinians there in recent military raids.  The Ramallah-based Palestinian health ministry says 10 children are among the dead.

The toll includes 38 in Jenin, 15 in Tubas, six in Nablus, five in Tulkarem, three in al-Khalil, two in Bethlehem, and one in occupied East al-Quds.

In a statement released on Monday, Palestinian Authority spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said the presidency “condemned the occupation authorities’ expansion of their comprehensive war on our Palestinian people in the West Bank to implement their plans aimed at displacing citizens and ethnic cleansing.”

The spokesman called for urgent action by the international community and the US to rein in Israel.  “We demand the intervention of the US administration before it is too late, to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people and our land,” Abu Rudeineh said.

On Sunday, the Israeli regime admitted it had killed more than 50 Palestinians since January 21 and in airstrikes the preceding week.

Heavy raids continue for a second day in the town of Tammun, south of Tubas, with Israeli forces also searching the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulances.  At least five Palestinians have been abducted since early Monday in the Far’a refugee camp.
