Ramallah, March 4 (RHC)-- The Israeli military is pressing ahead with its intensified acts of aggression and destruction across the occupied West Bank, causing several injuries and forcing numerous Palestinians out of their homes.

Media reports coming out of the occupied Palestinian territory pointed to continuation of the indiscriminate assaults across many cities and towns, including the northern cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, and the central city of Salfit’s vicinity.

The reports came amid warnings by various Palestinian and international groups and personalities about the regime’s intentions to annex the territory and turn it into another Gaza Strip, where more than 15 months of a genocidal Israeli war claimed the lives of over 48,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

According to reports, Israeli occupation troopers deployed after midnight additional military reinforcements to Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps.  Troops fired live ammunition intensively, while explosions were heard in the Jabal al-Nasr area of Nur Shams camp.

The official Palestinian Wafa news agency says that regime forces seized residential buildings, particularly those facing Tulkarm camp, converting them into military outposts while deploying military vehicles and bulldozers in the area.

The Israeli siege on Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps remains in place, with Israeli forces enforcing a complete lockdown.  The most recent bouts of Israeli aggression saw a three-month-old infant suffocate from tear gas fired by Israeli forces at the entrance of the Jenin refugee camp in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that its medical teams had transported the victim to the hospital after she was exposed to the toxic materials.

The Israeli regime has continued its military onslaught on Jenin and its refugee camp for the 41st consecutive day, resulting in the killing of 27 Palestinians, along with dozens of injuries and detentions.

The ongoing aggression has also led to the forced displacement of residents and widespread destruction of infrastructure and homes, with around 120 houses completely destroyed and dozens more partially damaged.

In the town of Biddya, west of the city of Salfit in the central West Bank, a 16-year-old Palestinian teenager was injured during an Israeli military raid.  Israeli forces stormed the town, firing live ammunition and stun grenades, resulting in the teenager being shot in the hand.  The occupation forces also fired live rounds indiscriminately at shops and passersby before detaining a young man whose identity has not yet been confirmed yet.

Reports coming out of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, meanwhile, indicated escalation of Israeli military aggression.  For over a month, the city and its adjacent refugee camps have been subjected to relentless Israeli military aggression and siege. The offensive has led to extensive destruction, forced displacement, and a severe humanitarian crisis.

Israeli forces have deployed additional military reinforcements, patrolling streets and neighborhoods, while firing live ammunition at onlookers.

Explosions have been reported in the Jabal al-Nasr area of the Nur Shams camp, which is located to the east of Tulkarm. Residential buildings, particularly those facing the Tulkarm camp in the city, have been seized and converted into military outposts.

Military vehicles and bulldozers have restricted vehicle movement, subjecting passengers to searches, abuse, and detentions.  The siege has resulted in a complete lockdown, with Israeli forces enforcing a total restriction on entry and exit.

Infantry units have been positioned throughout the camps, conducting raids on homes, ransacking contents, and subjecting residents to interrogations.  Entire families have been forcibly displaced as troops unleash live ammunition and stun grenades in, what has been denounced by human rights activists as, a calculated campaign of intimidation and terror.

Israeli bulldozers have also continued demolishing homes at the Nur Shams camp, enforcing prior demolition notices against 11 houses under the pretext of constructing a new road out of the camp’s square. The homes belong to several Palestinian families in the camp.

According to the Popular Committee of the Nur Shams camp, approximately 9,000 residents out of the camp’s 13,500-strong population have been displaced. Most of the evacuated neighborhoods and the camp’s center are now largely empty, with displaced individuals seeking shelter in emergency centers, relatives' homes in the city, and surrounding villages.

The Israeli occupation regime’s measures have also caused widespread destruction of infrastructure, affecting electricity, water, sewage, and communication networks.

The ongoing Israeli operations have led to a severe humanitarian crisis throughout the occupied territory, with tens of thousands of Palestinians displaced due to destruction of their homes, roads, and infrastructure.

The United Nations estimates that around 37,000 Palestinians have been forced to flee, often seeking shelter in university dorms or makeshift accommodations, with limited aid available due to financial constraints faced by UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees.

Observers have compared the situation to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the regime’s heavily-Western-backed war of 1948 against regional territories, which led to the West Bank’s and other huge swathes of regional lands’ occupation.

The developments have also been condemned as war crimes due to the forced population exodus.

Earlier this week, the Gaza Strip-based resistance movement Hamas said the regime had once again committed war crimes with its demolition of homes of Palestinians on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan at the Nur Shams camp.
