Ruling Broad Front Coalition Secures Majority in Uruguayan Chamber of Deputies

Montevideo, October 29 (RHC)-- The ruling Broad Front Coalition secured a majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies –- the lower house of the General Assembly of Uruguay -- and it will certainly be the case also in the country's Senate should the leftist coalition win the runoff election on November 30th.

The electoral court reported that after Sunday's election, the Broad Front Coalition now holds 50 out of 99 seats in the Chamber of Deputies.

In the Senate, the ruling Broad Front currently holds 15 out of 30 seats, while the opposition National Party holds 10 seats, the Colorado Party holds four and the Independent Party holds one.

In the Chamber of Deputies, the leftist Broad Front now holds 50 seats, followed by the National Party with 32, the Colorado Party with 13 and the Independent Party with three.
