Caracas, Nov 1, (RHC-XINHUA), -- Venezuela's private health sector Friday agreed to work together with the government to prevent the deadly Ebola.

A total of 234 institutions belonging to the Venezuelan Association of Clinics and Hospitals (AVCH) "are joining the National Preparation and Prevention Plan Against the Ebola Virus, according to the official Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

The AVCH members agreed at a meeting to work with public health institutions to set up an effective contingency plan, AVN reported, citing Vice President Jorge Arreaza.

"Our public and private healthcare systems have been activated to tackle a possible case of Ebola," said Arreaza, adding "there's no one infected with the disease in our nation."

Venezuela has spearheaded regional cooperation to prevent an outbreak of Ebola in the Americas, helping to organize an emergency meeting on the disease in Havana, Cuba last week. Officials from several countries, including the United States, attended the meeting.
