Quito, City, April 23 (teleSUR-RHC) Ecuador has been lauded at the Amazon forest authority conference as an example to the region for its achievements in forest conservation.
At the third Regional Meeting of Forest Authorities of the Member Countries of the Organization of the Amazonian Cooperation Treaty, Ecuador's Wood Member Program, the National Restoration plan and Forest Control were some of the initiatives highlighted.
Other countries participating in the event included Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, Peru and Venezuela. The meeting also allowed participants the opportunity to share experiences regarding forestry and conservation and protection of biodiversity, as well as long and short-term proposals for the future.
