La Paz, June 27 (RHC-PL) -- During a governmental meeting yesterday in La Paz, Bolivian President Evo Morales highlighted the solidarity from several countries with the maritime claim against Chile filed at the International Court of Justice, in The Hague.
During a Cabinet meeting, Morales said "the support and world recognition that our claim has got is very important."
He cited the example of a recent meeting with Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, with whom he signed the Declaration of Puerto Estevez during a bi-national Meeting last Tuesday in the city of Puno, Peru, where Lima ratified its support to the Bolivian cause to regain an outlet to the sea.
Morales' remarks come a few hours after Chilean President Michelle Bachelet cancelled a bilateral encounter with her Peruvian counterpart, scheduled for next week.
Morales reiterated that there has been signiicant support, even in Chile, where the Bolivian claim is backed by many social sectors.
