Havana, August 1 (RHC)-- Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said that a national strike, set for August 13th and called for by opposition sectors, lacks legitimacy.

In statements to national radio, the Ecuadorian head of state said that the action by ultra right-wing sectors lacks any legal basis, especially as the country shows significant advances in sectors like healthcare and education, among others.

Meanwhile, trade unions, autonomous workers, transportation workers and women groups presented their proposals to members of the country's National Assembly, in the framework of the National Dialogue for Equity and Social Justice promoted by the government.

Parliament President Gabriela Rivadeneira reiterated the government's commitment to further advancing in areas such as labor rights and guarantees.
