Gaza City, September 30 (RHC)-- Israeli warplanes have carried out two airstrikes against the Gaza Strip in yet another act of aggression against the besieged coastal territory. The airborne assaults, which were launched in the early hours of Wednesday morning, hit areas in the southern parts of the Palestinian blockaded enclave. There has been no word on the possible casualties and damage inflicted by those strikes. The Israeli military claimed that the raids were conducted a few hours after a rocket allegedly fired from the center of Gaza was intercepted by the regime’s so-called Iron Dome missile system over the city of Ashdod on the Mediterranean shore. Last year, Israel’s 50-day military aggression against the Gaza Strip, which started in early July and ended on August 26, 2014 with a truce that took effect after indirect negotiations in the Egyptian capital Cairo, claimed nearly 2,200 Palestinian lives, including 577 children. Over 11,100 others -- including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people -- were also wounded. Since 2007, Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza, which has caused a serious decline in the standard of living of the area residents.
