Brasilia, October 5 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Brazil’s justice minister said Sunday the country’s audit court's expected decision against the government’s 2014 accounting practices has not grounds for impeaching President Dilma Rousseff.

The case has been exploited by the country’s right-wing opposition to push for Rousseff’s impeachment. Rousseff was re-elected in October 2014 after defeating her conservative opponent Aécio Neves by three percentage points in a runoff.

Justice Minister Jose Eduardo Cardozo told reporters in Brasilia the government will file a complaint to remove and suspend Augusto Nardes, the auditor responsible for the case with the Federal Accounts Court.
       
Attorney General Luis Inacio Adams said on Sunday that Nardes’ announcement of his position, reported in various Brazilian media outlets, on the government’s repayment practices prior to the audit court’s decision on Wednesday was illegal.

Rousseff delayed repayments to state-run banks in order to continue funding social programs.
