Berlin, November 9 (RHC)-- Germany's flagship airline Lufthansa has canceled 929 of its flights for Monday as cabin crew announced the resumption of a strike over cost cuts.

Lufthansa said on Sunday that the strike would affect 113,000 passengers who have short and long-haul flights to or from Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf on Monday.

The strike is part of a week of action organized by a major cabin crew union (UFO) over early retirement benefits and pensions.

Lufthansa also said its senior managers are discussing the consequences of the strike in a meeting on Monday and would later release a statement to staff and public. The airline also said in a statement that "it is ready to resume talks" with the union.

The UFO started a week-long strike on Friday after talks between the union and the airline broke down and last-minute efforts to resolve the issue failed.

The airline canceled 520 flights on Saturday and grounded 58,000 passengers. The strike affected Frankfurt and Düsseldorf domestic and European flights.
