Kabul, December 11 (RHC)-- Taliban militants in Afghanistan have attacked the Spanish embassy in Kabul's diplomatic district, causing several casualties. It is the latest in a series of raids by Taliban fighters on high-profile targets in Afghanistan.
Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said at least one Spanish policeman was injured, but added that it was unclear whether Madrid's embassy in Kabul was the actual target. Casualties have been taken to a nearby hospital in the Afghan capital.
Security officials say that seven insurgents are involved in the attack. Both Afghan and Spanish security forces are reportedly at the scene. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by heavy gunfire on Friday evening.
