United Nations, Apr 1 (RHC) China assumes today the monthly leadership of the UN Security Council, having as main challenges ahead deterring the conflicts in Syria and Yemen, the crisis in Morocco and fresh denounces of sexual abuse by UN troops in the Central African Republic.
In closed door meeting, the Security Council will define its working agenda for April, which Chinese Ambassador, Liu Jieyi, will present to the General Assembly and the press.
The agenda is expected to include open debates on the priorities of the organization, severe crises, follow up of some of the 16 UN peace-keeping operations, making effective the government of national unity in Libya, and the long-lasting conflict between Palestine and Israel.
