Santiago de Cuba, October 19 (RHC/Granma)-- A Japanese donation of humanitarian assistance arrived in Santiago de Cuba on Tuesday aimed for the territories affected by Hurricane Matthew.
The donation was organized by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency’s representation in Miami and came on board a cargo plane from that city. It consisted of tents, blankets, water containers and purifiers and rolls of cables.
Japan’s Ambassador to Cuba, Masaru Watanabe, said the aid followed an earlier first aid donation made during the visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe in September.
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Collaboration representative in Santiago de Cuba María Luisa Bueno Oñate welcome the Japanese humanitarian assistance on behalf of the Cuban people.
The goods were being immediately transferred to the neighboring affected areas. And a second shipment of Japanese assistance is scheduled to arrive in eastern Cuba today.
