Brasilia, March 15 (RHC-PL) --  Brazilian Health Minister Ricardo Barros said Brazilian patients would rather go to be seen by Cuban doctors than Brazilian ones. He attributed the attitude to the dedication and care shown by the Cubans.

Cuban doctors, he said, are at the population's disposal the whole day. They work from 8am until 6pm, including Saturdays and Sundays, and that makes a difference for a lot of people, said the Brazilian health minister with regards to the Cuba-assisted More Doctors Program.

The minister reportedly also regretted that of the Brazilian doctors that had joined the program some 600 had already resigned, citing that there is too much work to be done.

Cuba joined Brazil's More Doctors healthcare program in 2013, upon a request by the Dilma Rousseff government and the Pan-American Health Organization. More than 11,000 Cuban doctors have since been working in Brazil, especially catering to the medical needs of families in the lower income brackets.
