Havana, July 21 (RHC)-- More than 24,000 polling stations will be enabled throughout Cuba for the next general elections, confirmed official sources quoted by the newspaper Granma.
María Esther Bacallao Martínez, secretary of the National Electoral Commission, told the newspaper that eight percent of polling stations will be in private homes, where all conditions are being created to ensure strict compliance with the legal norms that underpin the elections.
She said that work is also being done on the proposals for the creation of special electoral commissions, and on the approval of the districts, with a view to the second stage of the elections.
According to the secretary of the National Electoral Commission, work is being done in determining the number of deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power, and delegates to the Provincial Assemblies to be nominated by municipalities.
Bacallao Martínez said training is another constant. In this period the greatest emphasis is on the process of publication and verification of the lists of those who will exercise their right to vote, a decisive step for updating the Register of Voters.
