Paris, December 4 (RHC-PL) Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez opened a photo exhibit at UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris with snap shots of his free concerts in some of Havana´s humblest neighborhoods.

The 36 pictures, taken by Silvio Rodriguez himself, cover a period of seven years and they summarize the expectations and illusions of the residents, as they get ready to closely watch the singer’s performance, their warm welcome to the musicians and the assembling of the stages.

Speaking at the opening of the exposition, Cuba´s ambassador to UNESCO, Dulce Buergo, said the images are a testimony of the artist´s sincerest sentiment with humanity, social justice, love and friendship.

The exhibit that will be on display till Friday, was organized by the Cuban Mission to UNESCO, Spain´s General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) and the Ojalá record label marks the 20th anniversary of Rodriguez being appointed as UNESCOs Artist for Peace, and the 70th anniversary of Cuba becoming a full member of that international organization.

Answering a question to Prensa Latina News Agency, Rodriguez said that all 87 concerts are recorded. There was a person who suggested me to film everything. “That person was Fidel Castro,” he said.

He added that having that footage will allow him to start a new television program that will show his performances and those of many other artists that joined him on stage.
