Havana, October 4 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said four memorandums of understanding were signed recently with Google with a view to Cuba-related content becoming available via the platforms of that Internet technology company.
Diaz-Canel said that the memorandums of understanding with Google had four Cuban entities as counterparts. Those are the Havana-based University of Computer Sciences, the local medical network Infomed, the Ministry of Culture, and the Office of the Havana City Historian.
Speaking at the closing of the First National Conference of the Association of Cuban Computer Scientists, Diaz-Canel pointed to the role that Google currently plays in managing content over its digital platforms.
The Cuban president noted that in February of 2017, the Council of Ministers had approved a national policy for the advancement of the computerization of Cuban society, a priority program for the country but, he cautioned, one that has to be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.
Diaz-Canel said the increasing computerization of society is among the strategic development programs of the Cuban state.
