Havana, February 26 (RHC)-- China has congratulated Cuba on the massive support received by the country’s new Constitution in Sunday’s referendum, calling it a transcendental step towards the country’s development.
A spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lu Kang, highlighted people’s participation in the public consultation process, conducted between August and November of 2018.
He noted that based on the opinions collected during the consultation process, in which nearly 9 million Cubans participated, 60 percent of the draft text was modified, bringing in a final version, which best reflects the hopes and aspirations of the Cuban people.
In addition, China's mainstream media followed the referendum closely, reporting and informing their audience every step of the way.
