Cuba reiterates commitment to defend NAM´s positions at ILO

Geneva, June 20 (RHC)-- The Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Margarita González, reaffirmed on Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland, the island´s commitment to defending the positions of the Non-Aligned Movement countries (NAM) before the Organization. International Labor Organization (ILO).

 Prensa Latina news agency reports that González intervened in the meeting of Labor ministers of Labor of NAM, held within the framework of the 108th ILO Conference underway in Geneva.

The Cuban representative ratified Havana's commitment to unity and cooperation among non-aligned countries, and she asserted that the celebration of the ILO´s centennial is a fitting occasion to consider the efforts of ILO and NAM´s in what has been achieved and what remains to be done in the world of work, in order to achieve the proposed goals of safe, equitable and decent work.

She emphasized that unemployment, the worst forms of child labor, forced labor, deficits in decent work in vulnerable groups, discrimination at work, among other evils, require maintaining attention to achieve compliance with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

González stressed the importance of strengthening the level of coordination and participation in the work of the ILO within NAM, so that their positions are taken into account to a greater extent.
