Havana, November 25 (RHC)-- Cuba has not reported cases of Hepatitis B among people from zero to 15 years of age since 2007, thanks to the preventive administration of the Heberbiovac HB vaccine against Hepatitis B, says Granma newspaper.
The vaccine was developed by the Havana-based Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and it is immunogenic that is administered only once during the first days of a child's birth.
Currently, all Cuban infants are immunized against this ailment, and data are collected on the behavior of a new therapeutic vaccine to treat adult patients with chronic infection by the Hepatitis B virus.
