Havana, December 5 (RHC)--Cuba's climate and the U.S. blockade have turned agroecological agriculture into a strategic movement to transform this sector into a sustainable model.

Adilén Roque, the coordinator of the National Association of Small Farmers' Movement From Campesino to Campesino, explained  to the Cuban News Agency that these farms are less dependent on external inputs and protect natural resources.

She pointed out that this technique reduces greenhouse gas emissions and makes crops more resistant to the effects of climate change, especially droughts and hurricanes.

Adilén Roque explained that 72.25 percent of the farms linked to the National Association have joined the Movement and are working to reach the category of agroecological.
