Intense agenda at the upcoming legislative session in Cuba

Havana, December 10 (RHC) The Secretary of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament) and of the Council of State, Homero Acosta, described Tuesday the work agenda of the fourth ordinary session to be held next week.

In a press conference at the headquarters of the legislative body, Acosta stressed that this period of sessions gives continuity to the decisions contained in the transitory provisions of the recently aproved Constitution of the Republic.

While advancing part of the work agenda to be developed by the deputies, Acosta said that on December 17 and 18, the standing committees will meet to discuss issues of great interest to the population.

The Secretary of Parliament also announced that on December 19, the Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba, Alejandro Gil, will brief deputies on the current economic situation, the fulfillment of the economic plan, as well as prospects for 2020.

Meanwhile, on the 20th and 21st, the plenary meeting of the fourth ordinary session of the ninth legislature of Parliament will be held.

The leader also referred to the ratification on this occasion of the creation of a permanent committee related to the local bodies of People's Power.

Another important item on the agenda of our country's parliamentarians will be the appointment of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba.

In this regard, the Secretary of the Council of State explained that this position is proposed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel and is approved by an absolute majority of all deputies. Then, in a block vote, the rest of the members of the Council of Ministers will be elected.

It was also known that during the parliamentary meeting, two important bills will be presented: the law on the functioning of the National Assembly and the State Council; and the law on the organization and functioning of municipal assemblies and popular councils.
