United Nations, December 13 (RHC)-- Cuban Ambassador to the UN, Ana Silvia Rodriguez, assured that ending the blockade imposed by the United States against the island would be an action in favor of peace.

The Cuban representative recalled that United Nations General Assembly has pointed this out through an annual resolution adopted by an overwhelming majority for 28 consecutive years.   "There is no culture of peace when Washington launches a new smear campaign to discredit Cuba as part of its policy of growing hostility against the Caribbean country," she said.

Rodriguez argued that this campaign is motivated by the United States' continued failure to bring Cubans to their knees by strengthening the economic blockade and implementing measures to deprive the island of fuel, given the proven resilience of its people.

Rodríguez also denounced the actions of the United States Embassy in Cuba, from which mercenaries are guided and financed, which are incited to violence, disturbance of peace, and lack of respect for law enforcement agents, reported Prensa Latina.

The diplomat added that those new aggressions would fail, just as the 60-year blockade policy has failed, while she reaffirmed the island's commitment to peace and the promotion of a culture of peace.
