Havana, January 28 (RHC)-- The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended on Monday the inauguration of the teleSUR Production Center in Havana, from a Central Studio, located in the capital's El Vedado neighborhood.
The new studio is now added to the existing ones in Caracas and Quito, allowing the diversification of the contents of the multi-state TV broadcaster.
TeleSUR President, Patricia Villegas, described the new facility as a great step in efforts to broadcast content, from beginning to end, from the Cuban capital.
Doing it in English in this first moment - she said - comes to fulfill the dream of Chávez and Fidel to include the Eastern Caribbean in the transmissions of this multiplatform.
The Cuban president stressed that this inauguration is an expression of unity and a response to those who have tried to threaten teleSUR.
Díaz-Canel did not overlook the coincidence that the first news broadcast in English from Cuba took place on January 27, the day when young Cubans pay homage to José Martí with the Torch March.
"We have teleSUR in Havana," said Díaz-Canel from the new headquarters, which he had visited minutes before watching the first broadcast of the news in English.
