Havana, February 19 (RHC)-- Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, condemned the newly announced  U.S. government sanctions against the Russian oil company Rosneft Trading S.A. for trading with Venezuela.

Rodríguez Parrilla called these bans a violation of international law and the rules governing the development of trade among the countries of the world.

"The sanction against Rosneft Trading S.A. is a new violation of International Law and the universally established trading rules. The US has no right whatsoever to impose unilateral measures against entities from other States trading with Venezuela, and  Cuba," the Minister wrote on Twitter.

In a statement on its website, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced the sanctions against the Russian entity.

The penalties will freeze assets of Rosneft Trading S.A. within the U.S. and punish global partners of Rosneft≥ They also name Didier Casimiro, the firm’s president and chairman of its board of directors. The new sanctions will include a 90-day wind-down period for companies involved with Rosneft to disentangle their interests with the company.
