Rome, May 28 (RHC)-- A group of nine Italian senators presented a motion that commits the government to promote in all forums the lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

The announcement was made through a statement by the leaders of the Communist Refoundation Party-European Left (PRC).  In the statement, they highlighted how the U.S. government is tightening the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation despite the pandemic currently underway.

"The Italian parliament has the opportunity to respond with a political action to the generosity shown by the Cuban people and the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade towards our people and many other countries," the statement indicates, which explains that the motion was presented at the request of the PRC.

The proposed draft legislation will be voted upon by the entire Italian Senate in the coming days.
