Managua, June 12 (RHC)-- As a demonstration of the capacity and resilience of societies that assume health as a basic human right, Nicaraguan journalist Jorge Capelán described the imminent beginning of Cuba's post-COVID-19 recovery. 

The announcement this Thursday by President Miguel Díaz-Canel of the gradual return to normal activities on the island, as a high rate of recovery from the pandemic is presented, was examined by Jorge Capelan in statements to Prensa Latina.

He highlighted that Cuban women among the societies that take health seriously as a basic and fundamental human right of the population, and that also do so with a genuine commitment to internationalist solidarity.

Capelán compared the achievements of Cuba over three months of confronting the pandemic with the actions of countries whose economies boast "obscene wealth and proved incapable of satisfying the most basic health needs of their populations,"

Such nations gave the world a lesson in greed and selfishness by refusing to share their resources to face the pandemic, while Cuba not only confronted the COVID-19 with its socialist and solidarity-based health system, but was also able to share its scarce resources with the entire world.

He explained that this support included the dispatch of medical personnel (brigades from the internationalist Henry Reeve contingent) and valuable contributions in the field of drugs and therapies to combat the deadly disease.
