Kingstown, July 14 (RHC)-- The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, received on Tuesday the members of the Cuban medical brigade that collaborated in that Caribbean nation in the confrontation with the COVID-19.

In his words of gratitude, the San Vicente leader recalled the internationalist feat of the Cuban people and recalled passages of the decisive role in the end of apartheid in Africa and the ever-present legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

He highlighted Cuba's solidarity with the Vincentian people, which dates back to 2001, and exemplified these gestures of solidarity in the construction of the international airport, Operation Miracle, the professional training of dozens of young people and the permanent presence of a Medical Brigade that helps to guarantee the precious treasure that is health.

He praised that example that the United States government cannot forgive and condemned the orchestrated campaign that seeks to discredit the essentially humanitarian and supportive work of Cuban doctors, nurses and health care personnel.

The Caribbean leader reiterated his support for the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cuban Medical Brigade that is part of the Henry Reeve contingent.

In wishing them a safe return to their homeland, he reiterated his gratitude to Army General Raul Castro and President Miguel Diaz Canel for their continued solidarity and assistance to his country and all Caribbean nations.

Other members of his cabinet and all Cuban collaborators in the country of the Lesser Arch of the Antilles also took the floor during the ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of Health, Luke Browne, and the Cuban Ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, José M. Leyva.
