Havana, August 17 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has thanked the People's Republic of China for sending aid to confront COVID-19.

On his Twitter account, the president expressed: "Our thanks to our brother country," from where 23 tons of medicines and medical supplies arrived the day before, destined to confront the pandemic.

The Havana-Shanghai-Havana flight, with a technical stopover in Moscow, brought a load of rapid tests, real-time PCR and other inputs for the fight against the disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

Up until Sunday, the Caribbean nation transported almost 180 tons of medicines and medical materials from the Asian giant, to guarantee a stable supply in health institutions.

Cubana de Aviación has been in charge of this task, and has been supported by the airline Air France-KLM, which transported to the island some 130 tons of medical supplies and equipment for the battle against COVID-19.
