​Tropical Storm Eta hits southern Cuba.


Havana, November 8 (RHC)-- Tropical Storm Eta hit the central province of Ciego de Avila after making landfall early Sunday morning on the southern coast of Sancti Spíritus at 4:30 a.m. (local time).

According to the latest information issued by the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET), the maximum sustained winds of Eta are 100 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts, and its central pressure is maintained at 991 hectoPascal.

The center of the hydrometeorological phenomenon was estimated at 21.8 degrees North latitude and 78.7 degrees West longitude, over the city of Ciego de Avila.  The tropical storm maintained a movement to the northeast at a rate of 19 kilometers per hour (km/h).

In the next hours, Eta will maintain a close course between the north-northeast and the north, inclining around 12 noon its trajectory to the northwest with a slight decrease in its speed.
