Havana, December 7 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted this Sunday the people's response in defense of peace and tranquility in the face of U.S. threats during a rally held in Havana.

The president participated in an event with children and young people on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Federation of High School Students (FEEM) and the 56th anniversary of the Youth Technical Brigades, held in the Benito Juárez Park in the municipality of Playa.

The president praised the new generations for taking to the streets to demonstrate against the growing hostility instigated by Washington as part of an administration using its last minutes to pressure and harm the Caribbean island.

He pointed out the contradiction between the tranquility lived today in Cuba and the destabilization portrayed in social media.

Regarding the latter, he asserted that it is a "media show, a construction with which they try to fragment reality, to lose national identity."

"We face this with serenity, conviction, and love for Cuba and the Revolution," he affirmed.

The head of state said that, beyond the aspects of internal order to improve, the island is firm in socialism as a project of the nation, and that for this a challenge is to strengthen the economy.

In his remarks, he also denounced the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the White House, the main obstacle to development. He condemned the acts of terrorism promoted from the north.

He praised the validity of the historic leader Fidel Castro's thinking, reaffirmed the willingness to proceed with respectful dialogue, and asked the young people to be present in all the battles that are taking place today for the vitality of the island.

The Revolution exists to have a better country, and among Cubans, we will solve our problems, he said.

High school students, polytechnic institutes, trade and sports schools, and the people, in general, participated in the meeting.
