Havana, Feb 25 (RHC)-- Linking the business system with the scientific potential of universities and research centers is a priority of the Cuban State as part of the actions to boost the country's economic development.

According to President Miguel Díaz-Canel, to promote this necessary relationship, in recent years, progress has been made with the approval of a policy for the science and technology system and a set of regulations to transform the institutional framework in this area.

In a meeting on Wednesday with directors, scientists and experts of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the President acknowledged insufficiencies in the interconnection between universities and the productive system of goods and services.

The economic battle -he said- is one of the country's priorities and demands a broader, more intense, and coherent management of science and innovation.

In this sense, he called for taking advantage of technical, scientific knowledge to promote the nation's major development plans at all levels, informed the Presidency on its web page.

This was the first meeting held by the Cuban President with executives and scientists of the mining and energy sector. It is added to the promotion of innovation and development given by the country's leadership to critical sectors such as health and food.

The President said that similar meetings would be gradually extended to other ministries.
