Havana, May 1 (RHC) First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, congratulated Radio Habana Cuba this Saturday, on the occasion of the station's 60th Anniversary.
As part of the celebrations, the general secretary of the Trade Union Federation of Cuba, Ulises Guilarte, presented the 80th Anniversary seal of the Federation to the international radio station.
On April 15, 1961, Radio Habana Cuba reported on the attack on three Cuban airports aimed at destroying, on the ground, the few fighter planes that the island's newly created air force had, to facilitate the mercenaries' invasion of Playa Larga and Playa Giron two days later.

On Sunday 16, the radio station broadcast the mournful farewell that the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro pronounced at the burial of the victims of the bombings, an occasion on which he proclaimed the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution.
In that historic speech, Fidel Castro declared: "Do you perhaps believe that you are going to be able to hide it from the world...? ? No. Cuba already has a radio plant that is already broadcasting to all of Latin America, and this is being heard by countless brothers in Latin America, and all over the world.
Radio Havana Cuba's official foundational day is May 1, 1961.
