Havana, May 4 (RHC)-- Starting this Tuesday through May 30, the 14th edition of the Days against Homophobia and Transphobia, under the slogan All rights for all people will take place.

According to the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), due to the epidemiological situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, a program for academic dialogue, social activism, and artistic initiatives from virtual spaces is planned.

The celebration, stressed the institution, seeks to make visible and combat all types of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The activities include the celebration on May 6 of a forum-debate in the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, with the theme 'Deconstructing myths about homoaffective families and couples,' and another, on May 12, in the portal Cubadebate, focused on the 'Constitution and sexual rights in Cuba: progress and main challenges.

Similarly, on May 15, a panel on 'Diverse families: stories of non-hegemonic lives' will take place.. Two days later, there will be a discussion on the National Program for the Advancement of Women's opportunities to confront homophobia and transphobia.

Religious fundamentalisms and non-heteronormative gender identities are other topics of the call.

According to a statement issued by Cenesex, the Conference is part of the educational process that must accompany the transformations foreseen in the legal system of the Caribbean country.

The present edition takes place in a particular scenario due to the promulgation, in 2019, of the current constitutional text, which protects the guarantees of LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) people, with the regulation of the principle of equality and non-discrimination.

The event is organized since 2008 by Cenesex to contribute to the integral education of sexuality and the recognition of the rights of all people without distinction as an exercise of equity and social justice.
