Havana, August 1 (RHC) The Public Health Ministry reported on Sunday 9747 new cases and 87 deaths from Covid-19, the highest figures since the start of the pandemic on the island in March 2020.
The national director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Durán, informed that 22 new infections are imported. At the same time, the rest are due to autochthonous transmission, for a total of 394,343 cases registered in the country with the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Durán also said that of the 87 people who died in the last hours, three were pregnant women, and there was a 12-year-old girl.
The number of fatalities rose to 2,845, he said.
The capital city ranks first among the provinces most affected by the disease, with 1,938 cases in the last hours, followed by Guantanamo with 1,314 and Ciego de Avila with 993.
