Havana, December 27 (RHC)--Cuban authorities received 39 irregular migrants from the U.S. Coast Guard at Orozco Bay, in Artemisa.

This group brings to 1,019 the number of people returned by U.S. authorities this year. Mexico, the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Russia also carried out similar actions this year.

The migrants participated in four recent illegal departures from the country by sea, along the northern coast of Matanzas, Artemisa, and Havana. Upon arrival, they complied with the planned hygienic-sanitary measures, taking into account the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those involved in the trip used devices that were not suitable for navigation, and a stolen sport fishing boat also unsuitable for this type of voyage.

Their purpose was to reach U.S. territory to benefit from the Cuban Adjustment Act without considering the danger of opting for this type of journey.
The return of the individuals was possible thanks to the collaboration between the authorities of both countries. Cuba defends orderly and safe migration.
