Havana, December 27 (RHC)-- Almost 86 percent of the Cuban population has completed the anti-corona virus immunization schedule, and more than one million Cubans have received booster doses, the Ministry of Public Health reported.

At the close of December 24, almost 30 million doses of the Cuban vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus, and Abdala, all of them authorized for emergency use since last summer, have been administered in the country.

In the same direction, 9.5 million people have completed their full vaccination schedule, representing 85.8 percent of the Cuban population.

To date, 10.3 million people have received at least one dose of one of the Cuban vaccines, including convalescents vaccinated with Soberana Plus as a single dose. Of these, 9.2 million people have already received a second dose, and almost 9 million have received the third dose since the basic scheme includes three doses in Cuba.

A total of 1,163,358 people have received booster doses as part of the drive being applied to the population of selected territories and risk groups.

With the approval of the groups of scientists who have monitored the course of the pandemic, the Ministry of Public Health decided to accelerate the booster vaccination of the country's population given the worldwide advance of the Omicron variant.

Three days ago, Cuba began reporting more than 100 cases of Covid-19 per day. However, health authorities say they are in better conditions to face a new pandemic wave due to the advance of vaccination, both in its basic scheme and in its booster dose.
