Cuba's Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported three deaths and 919 positive samples for COIVD-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated total of one million 056,846 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

Havana, February 9 (RHC)-- Cuba's Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported three deaths and 919 positive samples for COIVD-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated total of one million 056,846 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

At the end of yesterday, February 8, a total of 16,261 patients had been admitted, 10,077 were suspected, 120 were under surveillance and 6,064 were confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 14,939 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, with 919 positive for a 6.2% positivity rate. The country accumulates 12 million 828 thousand 848 samples performed and 1 million 056 thousand 846 positive (8.2%).

Of the total number of cases (919): 902 were contacts of confirmed cases, 10 with source of infection abroad and 7 with no source of infection specified. Of the 919 diagnosed cases, 534 were female and 385 were male.

Of the 919 positive cases, 5.1% (47) were asymptomatic, totaling 144,040 cases, representing 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

Of the 919 cases diagnosed belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (195), 20 to 39 years of age (253), 40 to 59 years of age (266), 60 and over (205).

Of the 1,056,846 patients diagnosed with the disease, 6,064 remain hospitalized, of whom 6,016 have a stable clinical course. There were 8,450 deaths (3 during the day), with a case fatality rate of 0.80% vs. 1.45% in the world and 1.8% in the Americas; 2 evacuated and 57 returned to their countries. During the day there were 1,586 discharges, 1,042,273 patients recovered (98.6%). There are 48 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 23 are critical and 25 severe.
