Havana, July 16 (ACN-RHC) -- Cuban President Raul Castro headed the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday of 32 new Cuban ambassadors to Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East and international organizations.
In taking their oaths, the new diplomats stated their commitment to the Revolution and Homeland during the ceremony that was held at the José Martí Memorial in Havana, attended by the Communist Party's Political Bureau members, Esteban Lazo, President of the Cuban Parliament, and Bruno Rodriguez, Cuba's Foreign Minister.
On behalf of the new ambassadors, José Carlos Hernandez expressed gratitude for the trust laid upon them and noted that they will meet their obligation on the basis of sacrifice, modesty and courage.
Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra recalled that Cuban diplomacy is one of the political weapons of the Revolution, with transparency as one of its main characteristics.
The official called on the diplomats to effectively communicate the ideas that they are defending and to keep preparing themselves culturally and politically, as well as to face the complex international scenario.
The new ambassadors earlier laid a wreath at the monument of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the Revolution Square.
