Havana, February 17 (RHC)-- The digital transformation process is advancing in Cuba. However, some sectors have a more favorable environment for a qualitative leap, vice- Minister of Communications (MINCOM) Grisel Reyes said.

In the radio program Mesa Redonda, the official pointed out that the health portfolio in these two years of confrontation with the Covid-19 showed the services for the self-screening or the current vaccination card.

She explained the existence of 100 health institutions that have a system that allows them to manage a digital medical record; "but not all of them make use of this possibility because it requires a change of mentality", she said.

Reyes pointed out that in this regard, the National Center for Minimal Access Surgery is at the forefront by having all its management digitized and uses the digital medical record.

She mentioned other hospitals such as the Hermanos Amejeiras, the Neurological, and the Oncological Institutes that have worked and are focusing on these tools.

Reyes described as an essential element that several software institutions and the University of Informatics Sciences itself, which was a milestone in developing computing in the country, have various healthcare solutions.

She informed about a project for the computerization of pharmacies, while in the education sector, the vice-minister considered that distance education platforms, audiovisuals, multimedia, among others, are being added.
