Beijing, Jul 7 (RHC) Cuban representatives in China denounced Thursday a campaign of political destabilization and discredit against the Caribbean nation promoted by the United States, with calls for violence and the intention of creating pretexts for a humanitarian intervention.

The Caribbean country's ambassador in Beijing, Carlos Miguel Pereira, stressed that the hostile forces are once again taking advantage of the serious commercial and financial difficulties generated by Washington's blockade and the international crisis to launch their offensive.

According to him, they resort to old forms of attack, combining them with modern techniques of unconventional warfare, allocating millions of dollars and using sophisticated technologies.

Pereira also referred to the resistance of Cubans, the support of Latin America and the Caribbean in the face of U.S. maneuvers, and the achievements of the island in the development and application in record time of its own vaccines against Covid-19.

"Cuba does not hide its shortcomings. We are going through difficult times. But we are sure that with the humanism, creativity and tremendous effort of our people and the solidarity help of sister nations such as China, we will emerge victorious. Cuba is and will be a stable, safe and united country.

The diplomat pronounced these words during the beginning of an evening at the headquarters of the China Foundation for World Peace in Beijing, which gathered diplomats from other countries, Chinese friends and compatriots living in that country that support the largest of the Antilles.

He thanked everyone for contributing to the development of friendly relations between the two socialist states, pointing out that mutual

support in the multilateral arena and commitment to peace and security reflect the special nature of ties and the common aspiration to build a more just and sustainable world.

For his part, Li Ruohong, president of the Chinese Foundation for World Peace, highlighted Cuba's contributions to the Human Development Index through high life expectancy, mass literacy and progress in medicine.

He affirmed that the arrival of the first Chinese to the island in June 1847 left as a legacy a special and solid friendship in the face of international turbulences.

Finally, Li called to work together "to expand the influential circle of friends between both countries, to benefit the cause of peace and the peoples of the world".

The activity included a cultural moment where artists from the Asian giant played iconic songs of Cuba's musical staff and presented salsa choreographies accompanied by themes of emblematic orchestras of that territory. (Source: Prensa Latina)
