Havana, September 14 (RHC)-- A little more than a month after the massive fire in Matanzas and four months after the accident at the Saratoga Hotel, recovery actions continue for the affected areas to return them to their normality.

On  Tuesday, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez met with several ministers to review the progress of both processes.

Executives of the Cuban Petroleum Union (CUPET), the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, and the Ministries of Construction, Energy and Mines, and  Science, Technology, and Environment reported on the work being undertaken to recover the Matanzas Industrial Zone.

They described the task as arduous, requiring a tremendous collective effort.

Regarding the status of the injured in the accident, of the 146 in total,  the Minister of Public Health, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, said eleven are still in hospital, four are in critical condition, one in serious, and six in care.

The governor of Matanzas, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, informed by videoconference about the attention given to all the affected families who lived in the area of the accident.

On the other hand, the recovery actions being carried out in the areas damaged by the explosion of the Saratoga Hotel on May 6 were evaluated.

It was confirmed that the technical examination of its structure continues. The governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Zapata, detailed the construction and rehabilitation works being executed in the impacted area.

"In the case of the Capitol," he said, "all actions were completed to restore the damages on its building and on the primary school next to it.

In the case of the Martí Theater, the repair actions were completed. At the headquarters of the Yoruba Association, the actions were also completed.
